A Few Unbelievable Bargains at The Courtyard

We are cleaning house so to speak, and offering some exceptional deals on items that have been donated but not yet sold.  Before we pass them on to another not-for-profit organization, we thought we would try one more time to sell them to our loyal and regular customers.  These items will only be available for a week or so and all of them are currently located in our storage facility.  If you are seriously interested, please come in to The Courtyard and someone will take you over to see what is available.  We are very aware that people are searching for low priced items for their children's dorm rooms or new apartments so maybe something here ail work for you and for Wellness House.

These 2 vintage white wicker chairs (one is a rocker) are each priced at $25.  They are perfect for a porch, sun room, guest room at a cottage or lake house.

The white wicker settee is antique and needs to have one of the stringers repaired.  The wicker and cane bottom are in good condition.  The small white wicker desk or vanity is in good condition and could easily be spray painted to coordinate with your decor.  Add a small mirror and it would be a cute dressing table for a young lady to keep her hair supplies or make-up.  Each is priced at $35.

The sofa table is a light cream color but could be painted to match other furniture.  It would work for a flat-screen TV and a shelf could easily be added to the bottom for storage of components.  It is now $35.  The oval table is perfect for a small dining area and with the Windsor chairs (we have 4 of these) it would make a great dining or kitchen set.  The table is $50 and each chair is $25.  That's a really hard price to pass up!  The small square table, priced at $25, can be a coffee table or placed between 2 chairs or even stacked on another table and placed in a corner for some height.  Your choices are endless!

Royal Doulton figurines

We received a collection of vintage Royal Doulton figurines today that have been price very reasonably.  Unfortunately, these are not in big demand right now but because some of them are over 50 years old, we wanted to make you aware of their presence in our shop. They are all in excellent condition and would make terrific gifts for upcoming graduations, weddings, etc.

Vintage Peacock chair

Currently, we are seeing the resurgence of the fan-top chair that has been popular for many years.  Many remember it as the "Morticia Addams" chair from the 1960's TV show The Addams Family.  As early as 1930, Loretta young was photographed in the same type of chair.  Now, it has been written up in The New York Times as well as being talked about by the Curator of Decorative Arts and Design at Atlanta's High Museum of Art.  Anthropologie has designed a new take on this same chair but theirs will sell for $598.  Ours is just $250. Come in to see how cool and retro this chair really is!

Repurpose vintage armoire

One of our frequent customers has been watching this vintage French Provencal armoire and shared her idea for repurposing this.  She suggested painting it white or cream, changing out the fabric inside the doors (blue gingham for boys, pink rosebuds for girls) and using the center vanity flat surface for a changing table.  There are shelves and drawers inside both armoires allowing for lots of storage space for diapers, wipes, sleepers and clothing.  As your child grows so do the uses for this piece -- the changing table becomes a desk or make-up table and clothing and games can be stored neatly and out of sight.  There is even a stool for the vanity with a graceful curved back that can be reupholstered to match the fabric on the doors.

This set is reasonable priced but in another week it will become biddable.  So think about all the possibilities and let your imagination soar.  Come see for yourself what a unique item this is and how great it could be in your home.   Thanks for sharing your ideas with us!

Just in time for your holiday travel plans, we have a large vintage Louis Vuitton travel bag in our shop that is listed at $495.  Come in soon to see it for yourself -- it won't last long!

Our shop will close at the end of the day on Saturday, Dec. 21 and will re-open the day after Christmas.  At that time any donated Christmas items will be reduced by 50% for 3 days only, Dec. 26, 27 and 28.

Sneak Peek of the Week #7.  Here are just a few of the new things that arrived at The Courtyard today and will be available for purchase tomorrow morning when the shop opens at 10:00am.  There is a Christopher Radko teddy bear, lovely amethyst crystal goblets, antique furniture, a leather sofa, vintage evening bags and other unusual items.

We have great gift items as well as things for your home, office or cottage.  There are some unique vintage jewelry pieces that just arrived and would be perfect for that special lady in your life.  Come in and see for yourself -- all things new, different, one of a kind and completely suitable to keep or give.

Our shop is open from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm Tuesday through Friday and 10:00 am until 4:30 pm Saturday.  We look forward to seeing you soon!

Special Event -- Thank You!

We are happy to announce that our recent Special Event, held at our storage facility, was big success and we want to thank all of you who come out in the bitter cold at this busy time of the year to support our shop and our goal of giving 100% of our proceeds to benefit Wellness House and their programs for people living with cancer.

We sold this beautiful sofa that will go to its new home tomorrow afternoon.  The planters are gone as well as many of the wonderful vintage hats, a bookcase, settee, end tables, paintings, a large inlaid desk, chairs and even the Christmas tree that was decorating the entrance!  Not to mention many small items, vintage hat boxes, gloves and lovely crystal.  Thank you to all who came and offered their support of our efforts.  Our manager, volunteers and merchandisers are the reason that this all works and without them, together with our loyal customers and the many new ones who are finding us daily, we are proud of our accomplishments and are able to do what we do.  Thank you!!!

Special Event -- Furniture, vintage hats, coats and more!

It's finally here!  In less than 12 hours, it will be time for our last special event of the year at our storage area.  We have worked diligently to get things in place and displayed to make an industrial spot look inviting and cozy.  Come in and see what is available for you to take home or give as a gift.

All of the furniture, lamps, rugs and pictures will be available for purchase.  As with all of our previous events, we ask that items be taken at the time of purchase or as soon after as possible.  

We hope to see you tomorrow, Friday, and/or Saturday.  We will open promptly at 10:00 am each day and will remain open until 4:30 pm.  The proceeds from your purchase will help patients and their families living with cancer.  Wellness House offers support at no cost to those who need their services.

Special Event -- Vintage Hats!

For the upcoming Special Event to be held at our storage facility located in the walkway behind our shop, we will have some lovely vintage hats that came from an estate in Chicago.  Many are from famous designers and high-end departments stores and are of such high quality that our merchandisers felt we should offer them to our customers.  They will be available at our event this weekend, Friday and Saturday, only so this will be your only opportunity to purchase one or more for your collection or perhaps as a gift for a friend. We do not usually accept clothing so this is not the beginning of a new trend but rather a chance for you to see and buy something that would otherwise not be in our shop.

All of this begins in less than 48 hours and we have been hard at work moving furniture, cleaning and decorating, unpacking many small items that have just arrived and pricing everything so that we are ready when the doors open at 10:00 am Friday morning.  So mark your calendars, get our your boots and long-johns and plan to stop by and see what we have for your home, cottage or to give as a gift.
