Come shop - Consignments - The Courtyard

Sneak peek #53 -- another Monday at The Courtyard and despite the snow, ice and cold, our volunteers were working fast and furious to rearrange and redecorate the shop with the new items that arrived today.  A great value on dining room chairs that were donated and priced to sell quickly, a sofa and matching overstuffed chair, slipper chairs, paintings, side chairs and many other items for your shopping needs.  Remember that our storage area will be open on Friday and Saturday, February 13-14 from 10:00am until 4:30pm -- new arrivals that have yet to come into the shop and some items that have been donated and greatly reduced in price.  Make this Friday the 13th your lucky day!

The Courtyard Consignments

Sneak peek #52 -- great items came into the shop today ready for you to use in your home.  Spring is coming and it's time to think about redecorating.  Or perhaps you bought a summer cottage somewhere recently and need furniture, rugs, paintings, etc.  If we don't have it this week come back next week because our shop is ever changing and always a new shopping adventure.

Another weekly special at The Courtyard

"Green Light Special" #3 at The Courtyard -- as you are aware we are offering a specially reduced item each week for 3 very important reasons.  1)  you have the opportunity to purchase a great item for your home at a low price.  2)  all the funds from these items which have been donated will go directly to Wellness House to help support their programs for people living with cancer.  3)  it allows us to better utilize our limited space by moving items out to make room for new things coming in on a weekly basis.  WIN - WIN - WIN!  This week we were going to offer a 9 x 13 Iranian wool carpet but it sold before we uploaded the photos!  So, now we have a 27" square wooden  end table that looks to be inlaid.  Nice condition and ready for a new home -- priced at just $75.  It will easily fit in your car so you can take it home immediately.

Mark your calendar for the next Open Storage Event that will take place Friday and Saturday, February 13 and 14, 2015.  We have just received some new donated items as well as several consignment items that have yet to be seen by our customers.  So let Friday the 13th be a lucky day for you and come find a very special item for your home -- a great gift that will last longer than flowers and has a lot less calories than candy!  More information to come.

The Courtyard New Year's week

Sneak peek #50 -- today was not a consignment day at The Courtyard but we did bring in a few new items from our storage facility that have not previously been in the shop.  This is a short week for us -- because of New Year's we will be closed on Wednesday Dec. 31 and Thursday Jan. 1.  We wish all of you a healthy safe and Happy New Year!

Non-consignment Monday at The Courtyard

Sneak peek #40 -- even though it was a holiday and not a scheduled consignment day at our shop, 5 of us were there working hard to re-decorate, clean, select furniture to come in from the storage area, move items to a different location within the shop and take in a few new items.  Please come in to see the results and remember our slogan "Shop The Courtyard First".

Sneak peek #37 -- a non-consignment Monday but we brought in a lot of items from storage.  Several beds, sofas, end tables, coffee table, rugs, dining room table, a large framed print, a secretary and 12 place settings of Wedgwood "Queensland" pattern china.  Come see for yourself all the new arrivals.

Thursday at The Courtyard

All of us at The Courtyard try very hard to make our shop the epitome of consignment shopping and are always trying to improve the experience for you, our customers.  We have held "Special Events" to give everyone the chance to see what we have in our storage area and allow them to make the purchase long before the piece they want might go into the shop.  We clean, move furniture, inventory and price using a few of our dedicated volunteers who have been doing this since we began opening up storage to the public.  We try not to do them too often but then we receive so many nice pieces that we have a full room and no place to put it.  Thus, another "Special Event".  Our last one was help on August 28th and we thought we would try to cover the entire day so that you could shop, go home and measure, text a picture to family or friend and then return to make your purchase and hopefully take the item with you all before going to a local restaurant for dinner.  Seemed like a good idea at the time!  But it wasn't the success we had hoped for so on to Plan B.

Our merchandisers have decided to step up and open the storage area on Thursday afternoons from 1 until 4:30pm so that you, our valued customers will have the opportunity to come, look and buy!  Buy being the operative word here!  They are the ones who make the decisions about what is accepted to go into our shop and when it can be delivered and consigned -- they know the merchandise better than anyone.  This will begin on Thursday, September 18 and be held again September 25, October 2, October 9, October 16 and October 23rd.  Then they will re-evaluate the success of this (or not) and decide if we want to continue this after the holidays.

We all understand that today's lifestyle lends itself to a much less formal look than in the past and therefore, items that were once collected and cherished are no longer in demand.  This seems to be true not only with dishes, figurines, etc. but also with furniture. Please give us your ideas and feedback and let us know what we can do better.  We are grateful for your continued support of us and Wellness House and are always looking for a way to make us your first choice when shopping for your home.

Consignment Monday

Sneak peek #35 -- today was much busier than usual because we had an outstanding week of sales.  When we arrived this morning the shop looked really empty.  Sofas, rugs, chairs, a dining room set, chandelier, and several sets of china were sold and gone to their new homes which left us with space to bring in many of the items that have been in storage for awhile.  The photo below shows the "before", the "during" and the "after" of our days work.

Now that everything is in place and ready for you to see tomorrow when we open, here is a preview of some of the new items that arrived today.  Enjoy!  And come shop with us!

This week at The Courtyard

Sneak peek #29 -- another intake Monday reserved for our consigner appointments and the items they bring in to have approved for sale in our shop.  The entire morning is devoted to viewing, accepting, entering each item in the computer program, making price tags and and then placing them on each item with the matching description.  At the same time, large furniture pieces that have been pre-approved are brought in and a decision is made if it can stay in the shop or if it needs to go into storage for a short time.  If we have sold large furniture pieces or rugs during the week, our movers then bring in items that have been in storage to fill in the empty spots. We break for lunch and then spend the afternoon rearranging furniture and carpets, paintings and mirrors and finding just the right spot for each of the "small" things so that they can best be seen and enjoyed.  Our decorators do a fantastic job of taking hundreds of items that have no relationship to one another and making them look beautiful and inviting.  Each Tuesday morning The Courtyard looks new and welcoming to all those loyal shoppers who come to see and purchase the perfect item for them.  Come in and see for yourself just what a wonderful assortment of things we have available.

Newly consigned at The Courtyard

Sneak peek of the week #12 -- it's Monday night and time to give you a preview of new items that have just arrived in our shop.  In last week's 9-pack of photos, 2 of the 3 items in the top row have already sold and are being enjoyed in their new homes.  So when we say that things don't last long, we mean it!  Come in tomorrow morning when we open at 10am and see all the great things we have available for you.  Don't worry about the snow;  our steps are clear, our door is open and our staff is waiting for you.

New Consignment Items

Sneak peek of the week #11 --  another week, another selection of wonderful items consigned today and available for sale in our shop at The Courtyard.  Chairs, lamps, mirrors, sofas, rugs, cabinets, china,  paintings, tea sets, flatware, crystal and many other things are waiting for you to see them when we open tomorrow at 10:00 am.  We have customers who are faithful and come in every Tuesday to see what is new -- they often are waiting in line when the shop opens!  Don't miss out.  Valentine's Day is in just a few days and we have some lovely things that would make a great gift for the special person in your life.

New Consignment items at The Courtyard

Sneak Peak of the Week #8 -- while the thermostat was working hard all day to not go below -15 degrees, the volunteers and merchandisers at The Courtyard were working hard to accept new items for consignment and bring in other items from our storage facility.  Those with the most difficult job today were our 2 movers who were in the cold, windy weather for much of the day moving furniture to be delivered and other pieces that were coming into the shop.  Our deep appreciation to these hard working men for all they do for us every Monday rain or shine, hot or cold (or in this case, freezing!).

Consignment Queen Anne Barley Twist bed

Deal of the Week #2 -- Another piece of furniture just donated to our shop is a Queen Anne Barley Twist canopy bed made of oak.  It is priced "As Is" and offered at $150.  This is currently located in our storage area but you can call The Courtyard to make an appointment to view it in person.  Both of our "Deals of he Week" are of very special value and won't last long.  Come in and see for yourself!  We will be back to our regular hours beginning Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014.  Tuesday through Friday from 10am until 5pm.  Saturday 10am until 4:30pm.  Closed Sunday and Monday.

All of us at The Courtyard wish you and yours a very happy and healthy New Year and look forward to seeing all of you soon.  Stay safe.
