The Courtyard Sale - Furniture - Majolica and more!

Our upcoming moving designer home sale located at 46 S. County Line Road in Hinsdale, IL includes majolica, furniture, silver, crystal, glassware, many pictures and framed wine posters, a framed signed piece of golf memorabilia, Asian art, outdoor items, bolts of fabric, Asian linens, books and many other items too many to mention.

We know that there are many people who collect the older pieces of Majolica and it will be available  on the 2nd floor.  

The main floor this 1928 Zook home contains a large ultra suede sectional sofa, a 2 cushion matching sofa, a pair of Asian chairs, a Peruvian coffee table, many Oriental items, pictures, several rugs, silver, glassware, desk, baskets and many one of a kind things.

We will be passing out numbers beginning at 8:30 am and will allow 10 people into the house at a time because of it's size and the amount of walking space available.  Check out and wrapping for the 1st and 2nd floors will be done near the front door.  

The basement will have only garage sale items and check out will be cash or checks only.  We ask that you shop there last so that you won't have to carry your bags throughout the house. 

This has been a huge endeavor for us and without our volunteers and merchandisers donating their time and energy to this project we would not have been able to accomplish what we have so far.  We need everyone to come and shop, enjoy the house and most of all, support Wellness House

to help them continue their wonderful programs for those living with cancer.

The time of the sale is Friday, Feb. 24 from 9:00am until 3:00pm.

Saturday, Feb. 25 from 9:00am until 1:00pm.

All sales are final and you will need to have items removed from the house no later than

Saturday afternoon at 1:00pm

Bargain of the Week - Part 2

This is your lucky week!  Who knew that we would have 3 additional items donated today that we could reduce and offer to you?  The wicker desk is now just $25 and can be spray painted if you want another color.  Add a glass top for a smoother writing surface or make it into a vanity table.  The Oriental rug measures 9' x 13' and is priced at $595 - down from $1,200.  Lastly, the antique Captain's chair was $125 but can be yours for just $45.  Now how can you possibly pass this up?

LOST OUR STORAGE -- SALE - SALE - SALE

The Courtyard has been very fortunate to have had the use of the vacant space behind our shop to use for storage.  However, Midwest Properties, Inc. has been able to rent the property and we have to vacate the premises completely by Tuesday, Jan. 19th.  The weather will no longer be a determining factor in the timing of this event -- we have to sell everything as soon as possible!  We have never actually had a SALE before because so many of the items we had available were on consignment and we didn't own the merchandise so could not accept offers other than the ticketed price.  This time we will have only donated items in storage that are all for sale at drastically reduced prices.  We will consider any reasonable offer because Everything Must Go!!!  You must understand that this is strictly a "pay and go" process -- you pay for the items either with cash, check or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discovery) and then you need to take it with you or pick it up before 2:00 pm Saturday afternoon, Jan. 16th.  We can't make any exceptions because we have to be completely out within a few days of the sale.  So plan on bringing your biggest vehicle so you will have room to load up your treasures.  Pictures of some of the available items will be posted within a few days.  

Labor Day Sale

In honor of the Labor Day holiday, we are offering 3 very nice items at drastically reduced prices.  These offers are good until the end of the shopping day on Saturday, September 12.  

First, we have a cherry Queen Anne dining table with 6 chairs and 2 leaves.  It was originally priced at $995 and after it was donated we reduced it to $595.  For this week only it is now priced at just $350.  With the holidays coming up way too fast, it's time to think about a new dining room table for your home so that you have room for everyone in the family.  The detail on the legs just adds to the beauty.  

Second is a large traditional cherry china cabinet with lots of space for displaying or storing your china and crystal, collectibles or books.  A customer today suggested taking the doors off the top and making it into a bar.  Lots of things that this can be used for.  Originally it was $595 then reduced to $295.  Buy it this week for just $175.

And lastly we have a beautiful Thomasville oak mission style dining room table with 2 leaves and 6 chairs -- 2 arm, 4 side.  It is a well made table and in very good condition.  The fabric on the chairs looks new.  This came in at $995 but for this week only, it can be yours for just $850.

"What a difference a day makes"

The wait is almost over -- in less than 12 hours our Special Event begins at The Courtyard storage space.  We have been posting about this for the past few weeks in order to get you excited about all the items we have available for you.  There are 8 dining room tables, several sofas, coffee tables, rugs, lamps, mirrors, chairs, trunks, desks, beds -- the list goes on and on.

You saw the "before" photos in the last post and now you see what we have been doing all week.  Our designers/merchandisers have done a terrific job placing the furniture to make it look welcoming and attractive and to help give you ideas on how things can be used in your own home.

We have done our part -- now it's time for you to come and make it all worthwhile.  Wellness House will benefit from the proceeds of this sale to help support their programs for families living with cancer.

Country French dresser

Looking for something unique and useful for a graduation gift for your child or grandchild?  Well never let it be said that we didn't do our best to help you out with that!  We are offering this lovely Country French triple dresser with mirror for only $195.  Don't need a dresser?  Why not repurpose it and use it as a sideboard in the dining room?  Or for great storage in a living room or den and place the flat-screen TV on it?  Or really change the use by dropping a sink in it and using it as a vanity in the bathroom?  This is a lovely piece of furniture and very difficult to pass up at this great price.  Come see for yourself!

SPECIALS at the Courtyard

We are trying someone a little different than the way we have previously sold some of our donated items.  We are offering the 8 items shown below at just $95 -- that's right, only $95 each!  These have all been in the shop and were then donated so all the proceeds will go directly to Wellness House to benefit their programs for people with cancer and their families.  We asked in a email sent out yesterday to our clients who have signed up to receive special notices, that calls begin today at noon for these items and in less than 2 1/2 hours, we have sold 2 pieces -- the red striped sofa and the small 2 door cabinet.  Our shop is open until 4:30 pm today and then Tuesday through Friday from 10 am until 5 pm.  Come soon or the piece you are interested in may be gone!

Camelback sofa -- SALE

Another day --- another deal!  This time we have a lovely striped camel back sofa with rolled arms available and priced at $195.  Or, you can make us an offer!  We want someone to have this for their home and maybe it will be you.  The sofa measures 84 inches in length and is 30 inches deep with a single cushion that can be changed if you have it reupholstered.  The fabric is actually in very good condition and if the colors work for you, this would really be a great deal!  Even if you choose to have it recovered or slipcovered, where are you going to find this quality for such a low price?  Come in and see it for yourself.

Antique Oak Hutch

We are so happy to be able to offer this lovely antique oak hutch that has been donated to our shop.  It is a wonderful storage piece and functional as well with display areas for your china and crystal or go a less formal route and use it for your pottery and other display pieces.  Can't you visualize it with greens and Santa's tucked in for Christmas?  Or bittersweet and pumpkins for fall?  It is currently priced at $420.75 but we are ready to take offers to make it more affordable for you.  You will be help us to free up some space for another piece of furniture to come in and we will help you make this a reality.  Come see for yourself what a great buy this can be -- make an offer and schedule the move-out date!

Special reductions at The Courtyard

We have good news for all of our customers!  There are several items in the shop that have been greatly reduced to make them more appealing.  First up, a Drexel triple dresser that would give you the always needed additional storage for your home.  But think outside the box -- this could be a great vanity in a bathroom with a vessel sink placed on top.  Or in a playroom for toy and game storage.  Or perhaps in the dining room for your linens and flatware.  A light sanding and it could be painted then add new hardware for an entirely new and different look.  The price is $150.

There is also a very nice Queen Anne mahogany highboy that has been donated.  It has 5 drawers and is in very good condition.  This is priced at $250.

We also have a very nice butler's table with working hinges that is now at it's lower price of $165.75.  If it is still in the shop on the 12th of February you will be able to place a bid and if accepted, it is yours.

Come in and see for yourself what great buys these are -- but because of that they won't last long.  The shop is aways warm and inviting and a wonderful place to visit on a cold winter day -- you can stay as long as you like, visit with our volunteers and look at all the unique items that are available.

Post-Christmas SALE

We wanted to let our customers know that we will be having a "blow-out" sale of all Christmas items that were donated at the end of business on Saturday, Dec. 21.  They have been drastically reduced and will be ready for you to purchase when we re-open on Thursday, Dec. 26 -- available for 3 days only.  These items won't last long so come in first thing to get the best selection.  Our shop will open at 10:00 am Thursday morning and we will have our regular hours until closing on Saturday when we will close until Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014. Only the donated Christmas items will be on sale -- all of our other merchandise will be at the regular prices.  Hope to see you soon!

Special Consignment Event -- Drum Roll Please..........

WOW!  We had the most successful overstock sale yet and are thrilled with the success of this special event.  Some wise soul once said that "If you build it they will come . . ." and come you did.  We had so many people waiting for us to open the doors Friday morning -- we were overwhelmed with the excitement and enthusiasm of our customers.  We saw many new people who are just learning about us and more who return over and over again because they know that we have an ever-changing inventory and that things are never the same 2 weeks in a row.

Everyone came to see for themselves all the wonderful new items that we had recently received from several estates and more than 50% of those items sold and have been taken home.  Our sincere thanks to everyone who came and supported us, who have followed us on our websites and who are loyal to our shop and our commitment to support Wellness House and the programs they provide for people living with cancer.  A sincere thank you to our volunteers and merchandisers who make all of this happen.  Thank you one and all!

Furniture Consignment Special Event at The Courtyard

"Treasures" at our upcoming special event.  We want to let you know that in addition to all the new merchandise from several estates that have arrived in the past few weeks, we will also have some real bargains -- our "treasures" at the sale.  There will be lamps starting at $65, a blue striped sofa for $150, a Thomasville hunt table for $95, Widdicomb upholstered chair priced at $75, ecru damask sofa for $225, a pair of pink boudoir chairs at $25 each, coffee table for $25, a white 3 drawer chest priced at $75, a Thomasville triple dresser with mirror for $125 and matching nightstands at $25 each and more including several rugs.

We are just 24 hours away from the doors opening at this special event sale and look forward to your arrival.  Our volunteers work very hard to set up our facility for our extra sales in addition to all the time and energy they donate daily to make The Courtyard the successful shop that it is.  After 22 years, their enthusiasm remains high and their enjoyment very evident by the smiles on their faces. We have all been touched by cancer in some way and this is how we can continue to contribute to the support of Wellness House that supports those living with this disease.

The Courtyard 's Consignment Overstock Event

Less than 48 hours until the beginning of our overstock special sale event.  We have received several estates in the past few weeks and have an abundance of unique and quality items for sale -- none of which have yet to be in our permanent shop location at 63 Village Place, Hinsdale, IL.  Our storage area is located behind our shop in the walkway between Hinsdale Bank and Trust and CiNe restaurant and runs between First St. and the parking lot behind Fuller's Hardware -- you can access it from either end.  To help you better recognize us . . . here is the First St. entrance.  However, the plants have been removed so it doesn't look quite this festive now.

We also want you to get a better idea of just what we have available and the best way to do that is through photos.  There are French antiques, dining room tables and chairs, coffee table, sofas, rugs, desks, lamps, mirrors and many other pieces of furniture.

We will be open from 10am until 4:30pm Friday and Saturday and would love for you to let us know how you heard about us, if you have been following our Facebook page or our blog -- it helps us learn what is working and what improvements we can make.  Thank you in advance for your support of Wellness House.

The Courtyard Overstock Event

Just a reminder that our special overstock sale is only 9 days away!  We have been busy accepting several estates that have given us some wonderful items to sell in our shop but it also causes our shop and storage facility to have "stretch marks".  Thus a sale!  We have furniture, rugs and mirrors that will be available on Friday and Saturday, November 1 and 2 from 10:00am until 4:30pm each day.  Our storage area is behind the regular location in the walkway between Hinsdale Bank and Trust and CiNe restaurant (the former Hinsdale Theater).  Both of our locations will be open during this sale so please mark your calendars and come in to see all the unique quality items that we have available.  A few of the items for sale in storage are pictured below.

For a better idea of some of the items we have for sale in our shop, please go to our website at www.shopthecourtyard.com and click on Featured Items in the left column.  Then click on Featured Items again on the next page and you will see the 8 things posted for the week.  The pictures are changed every Wednesday so come back weekly to view the website.  Our blog is more active and posts are made several times a week as new and unique things are accepted in our shop.  Let us know how we are doing with our "virtual shop".  You can make comments here on the blog and we will respond as quickly as possible.  If you sign up as a "Follower" you will receive email each time a new post is made.  It can't get much easier than that!  And please spread the word to your friends and children -- the more people are aware of our shop and its dedication to the support of Wellness House, the more things we can sell that will benefit people living with cancer.

Overstock Consignment in our Storage

Mark your calendars!  We have had so many quality items arrive at our new storage facility these past few weeks that we have decided to hold a special sale on Friday, November 1 and Saturday, November 2 from 10:00am until 4:30pm each day.  Storage is now located directly behind our shop -- the rear section of the old Hinsdale Theater.  There is a small walkway between Hinsdale Bank and Trust and CiNe restaurant and we can be accessed via that walkway.

We wanted you to see some "before" photos so that you will better understand how the space will look for the sale.  It takes a lot of time to get each piece arranged, cleaned, inventoried and priced so that when we open the doors, everything is ready for you to purchase and take home.  As with our other sales, we are not able to place items on a "Pending" hold as we do in our permanent shop.  Instead items will be available to everyone and it is a "first come first serve" shopping experience.  All times must be picked up or delivered to your home no later than the following Saturday, November 9.  If items can't be taken with you during the sale, then arrangements will need to be made with us at the shop -- we do not sell from this space on a regular basis because we just don't have the volunteers to do that. With advance notice we can easily meet you there but you will need to bring help to move out your furniture.  We are not physically able to do that.

Some of the items we will have available are:  double lighted bookcase $695, Chinoiserie cabinet $795, 41x25 gold framed mirror $275, glass and brass library table $195, pair of raspberry loveseats each priced at $495, Thomasville cherry triple dresser $395, 3 metal barstools with upholstered seats each $125, Century chair with ottoman $495, glass vintage curio cabinet $200, navy Chippendale sofa $695, mahogany 2 drawer end table $225 and a large Baker's rack $395.  Many other things -- just too many to list them all.

We will have only furniture items, rugs, mirrors and some lamps at this sale -- no "small" items this time. Because of our lack of space we cannot offer storage any longer.  Items left with us for more than the allowed time will incur a storage fee of $10 per day.  

As you can see from the pictures, we have more furniture than places to put it!  But you will be able to see everything without having to move something else out of the way.  Most items are newly consigned and have not yet been into the shop -- therefore, we can't change the prices.  There are a few things that have been donated and we will be drastically reducing the price on those pieces.
